Which Water Park in Phuket and How to Get There

Water Park in Phuket Thailand

When vacationing in a warm destination, it’s natural to wonder about the water attractions on offer. Phuket Water Park promises excitement with its thrilling water slides and the infectious positive vibes that delight every visitor. But let’s start from the beginning…

Description

Jungle Splash Phuket is the sole water park on the island, having virtually monopolized the water attraction segment in Phuket. The park is located near the airport and adjoins Sirinat National Park.

Originally, the water park was built for the West Sands Residence and Resort hotel; however, the builders went a bit overboard, resulting in an enormous area of approximately 22,500 square meters, and naturally, one hotel alone could not supply enough visitors for such a vast area—even though it is the best, newest, and most modern park.

In order to recoup the funds spent on its construction, it was decided to open the large water park to the general public.

By the way, the park was designed by the same team that worked on Disneyland, so there’s plenty to see.

Aerial View

In terms of capacity, Jungle Splash is on par with any water park in Thailand, offering standard slides and pools, but its design distinctly stands out.

Plenty of Space for Kids

Thus, Jungle Splash features seven themed zones:

  1. Civilizations of the Incas and Mayas.
  2. Africa.
  3. Asia.
  4. North America.
  5. Europe.
  6. Turkey.
  7. Antarctica.

Surrounding all the zones is a pool with an artificial current, so even the laziest can easily visit every zone – all you need to do is lie on an inflatable ring and enjoy the local scenery. Be sure to bring your phone, as the photos and videos you capture here are simply stunning.

Floating along an Improvised River

Among the slides, the following are particularly noteworthy:

  • Boomerang (a huge U-shaped descent reminiscent of a skateboard park);
  • Toilet (the most popular slide, where at a certain point the rider is sucked into a giant drain);
  • Closed Slide (a spiral descent – which, as the saying goes, is perfect for those who enjoy a fast ride);
  • Open Slide (a more relaxed spiral descent).

There is a dedicated zone for small children, but even there, they should not be left unattended – after all, water is involved…

Any child will truly appreciate this enormous complex where they can climb, ride on small slides, and even take a shower from a giant barrel. It should be noted that the complex is unlikely to appeal to children over 10 years old, but it is perfect for preschoolers.

For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, the water park also features a wave pool and a geyser valley. And if you ever tire of splashing around, you are welcome to enjoy a massage or SPA treatments, and for those who like to warm up, there is a sauna (housed in an Inuit-style yurt).

The water is supplied from an artesian well, and the ventilation system is equipped with a top-notch water filtration system as well as the necessary equipment to monitor the level of filtering agents in the water. Since its inception, there have been no reported cases of poisoning.

Visiting Rules

Like any water park, Jungle Splash has the following rules that must be adhered to:

  • Visiting the park in clothing with metal rivets or buttons is prohibited – only swimwear is allowed;
  • Pregnant women are not permitted on the water slides;
  • For certain slides, children are allowed only if they are taller than 122 cm (children below this height must wear a life vest);
  • Diving into deep areas of the pool is prohibited;
  • Running in the park is forbidden;
  • For toddlers in diapers, special swim briefs must be provided;
  • If you are ill (e.g. with a respiratory infection, etc.), unfortunately, the slides will be off-limits for you;
  • Smoking is allowed only in designated areas;
  • Bringing food and beverages in glass containers is prohibited;
  • Children under 12 must not be left unattended;
  • Eating in the pool is prohibited (strangely enough, there have been such cases).

For some slides, the minimum weight is 45 kg and the maximum is 136 kg (all restrictions are displayed before the ride).

Safety Sign

And by the way, the water park administration is not responsible for accidents that occur as a result of safety rule violations.

Cafés

In Thailand, water parks are never built without food services, as this is one of the main sources of revenue for such establishments. Jungle Splash is no exception – it features several cafés, restaurants, and fast-food outlets.

Café View

Naturally, the prices are marked up since you are on an exclusive premises where bringing your own food is prohibited; thus, you have only two options: buy food here or venture outside the park (and, between us, very few opt for the latter).

On the premises, you’ll find a café offering European and Thai cuisine, several establishments with mixed styles, and a fast-food outlet. There is also a bar where you can treat yourself to light alcoholic beverages and cocktails.

Food

By the way, a children’s menu is available. If your little one is very young, be sure to inform the staff upon entry, and it is advisable to have their food served in non-glass containers.

Prices

While some staff might overlook your personal food, be aware that the fine for violating this rule is 1,000 baht.

Prices

The fixed admission fee is approximately 1,800 baht for an adult and 875 baht for a child (with a 10% discount if booked online via the official website). So, if you plan to visit the park independently, you can purchase tickets either at the entrance or separately from any tour agency.

Young Visitors

Additionally, tour agencies offer the same price, but you can also arrange a transfer if you prefer not to navigate the maze of Thai streets on your own.

And by the way, it is not possible to purchase a transfer separately from the ticket. So, if you wish to avoid being tied to a tour operator, you’ll have to travel on your own.

By the way, knowing Thai is not at all necessary, as you can purchase a ticket with only minimal knowledge of English.

Ticket purchases are eligible for discounts, including:

  1. For guests of West Sands Residence and Resort – a 30% discount.
  2. For group tours (from 10 visitors) – a 10% discount.

Operating Hours

The water park operates daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. However, visitors are asked to leave by 5:30 PM as the staff needs time to tidy up and prepare the park for closing.

How to Get There

In Thailand, water parks are not the most profitable venture for tour agencies, so there isn’t much of a push to sell you this excursion. In fact, some tour operators even discourage guests from taking it. But whether you want it or not, getting to the park on your own is quite easy.

The water park’s address: 65 Soi Mai Khao 4, Tambon Mai Khao, Amphoe Thalang, Chang Wat Phuket 83110, Thailand – you can view it on the map below.

Simply put, Jungle Splash is located near Mai Khao Beach, a convenient location if you plan to travel to the park by rented scooter or car (parking is available).

And the best news for water attraction enthusiasts – the park has organized a free transfer service that departs from several major beaches. There are two transfers in total: one to the park and one from it. The transfer schedule is as follows:

  1. Kata – 9:30 AM, and a second at 10:30 AM.
  2. Karon – 9:40 AM, and a second at 10:40 AM.
  3. Patong – 9:50 AM, and a second at 10:50 AM.
  4. Kalim – 10:00 AM, and a second at 11:00 AM.
  5. Kamala – 10:10 AM, and a second at 11:10 AM.
  6. Laguna – 9:30 AM, and a second at 10:30 AM.
  7. Nai Yang – 9:40 AM, and a second at 10:40 AM.
  8. Mai Khao – 10:00 AM, and a second at 11:00 AM.

The return trip departs between 4:00 PM and 5:45 PM, depending on the arrival of the buses.

Reviews of this transfer service are quite favorable, so there is no need to overpay a tour agency (some of which, by the way, send tourists to the water park using the free transfer).

Transfer Option

The transfer departs from the beaches, and it is advisable to confirm the exact pickup location with any tour agency in advance.

Hotels with Water Parks

For those who prefer not to leave the confines of their hotel yet still wish to experience a water slide, there are hotels in Phuket with water parks. However, these hardly compare to a full-fledged water park with multiple attractions.

Among the most popular hotels with their own water slides, the following stand out:

  1. Centara Grand Beach Resort.
  2. Laguna Resort.
  3. Courtyard by Marriott.
  4. Centara Kata Resort.

Centara Hotel

Officially, the most impressive option among the offerings, where the water experience can somewhat be compared to a full-fledged water park (thanks to its large water slides), is the Centara hotel, located on Karon Beach.

This five-star hotel offers guests several water slides that cater not only to children but also to adults.

So if you want to avoid the perennial question of where to go during your Phuket vacation, opt for Centara.

Laguna Resort 5*

A more modest option, featuring just one water slide – Laguna Resort. Guests here have access to a single 50-meter-long water slide.

The hotel is located on Laguna Beach.

Courtyard by Marriott 4*

A more budget-friendly option compared to the previous two hotels is Courtyard by Marriott. However, its water attractions are somewhat lacking – there is only one water slide, and it is designed for children. Adjacent to the children’s area are adult pools, totaling three.

Centara Kata Resort 3*

An even more economical option is Centara Kata Resort. This hotel, located on Kata Beach, offers just one children’s water slide integrated into a kiddie pool. Adults are left with only a standard pool and leisurely sunbathing.

So, there is only one water park in Phuket, but what a water park it is. It may still be a bit early for it to compete with European water parks, but for the island, it is certainly a good option.

Don’t forget to share your vacation impressions in the comments. They are valuable for those still undecided on where to go for their holiday.
